Mary Margaret McDonald
MARY MARGARET MCDONALD is a native of VA, where she grew up in Manassas, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Her interests always lay in helping others, so she chose to attend Radford University in VA, to pursue a degree in nursing and to participate in the women’s soccer program. While at the university, Mary Margaret realized her mathematics courses were “fun.” She learned that she could “easily” double major in Mathematics and Statistics. She graduated cum laude in 1988 as a member of the Honors Program.
Mary Margaret began her career in bookkeeping and accounting after spending time at home with her daughters while living in Nashville, TN. She found a volunteer position working with the Girl Scouts that allowed her to explore her interest in accounting. When she went back to work, she served as the Financial Director for Giles County, VA. After the family moved she worked at an accounting firm where she processed payroll for clients and served as the firm’s office manager before she moved to Texas in 2015. Before coming to HFS, Mary Margaret worked in the accounting department of a large nonprofit. She is thrilled to return to processing payroll, and assisting with human resource duties.
Of all the positions she has held, her favorite job has been as “Gram” to her two grandchildren. In her spare time, Mary Margaret enjoys baking, reading, crafting, walking, anything that includes family and friends, and sports. Her favorite college team is Virginia Tech, and her favorite NFL team is the Philadelphia Eagles, and her favorite NBA team is, of course, the Spurs.
